"There is no EU member state with an embassy in Jerusalem," European Commission spokesman Peter Stano
The European Union warned Serbia and Kosovo on Monday against moving their Israeli embassies to Jerusalem.
"There is no EU member state with an embassy in Jerusalem," European Commission spokesman Peter Stano said.
"Any diplomatic steps that could call into question the EU's common position on Jerusalem are a matter of serious concern and regret."
Stano said that "since Kosovo and Serbia identified EU accession or EU integration as their strategic priority, the EU expects both to act in line with this commitment, so the European perspective is not undermined," The Jerusalem Post cited.
The statements follow the signing of an accord between Kosovo and Serbia in the White House on Friday, with the two countries pledging to establish economic relations.
The deal also includes Serbia moving its embassy to Jerusalem by mid-2021 and Kosovo vowing to recognize the Jewish state and open a diplomatic mission in its capital.
Kosovo's parliament voted for its independence in 2008. It was recognized by more than 100 nations, but Israel was not on that list as the nation did not recognize the Jewish state.
If Kosovo follows through with the pledge, it could become the first predominantly Muslim nation to set up an embassy in Jerusalem.
