Tanya Mazor-Posner, who was featured in the March edition of the Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle for planning to run in the Jerusalem Marathon for tzedakah, will not be running in the event. It has been postponed.

The Marathon in Israel had been set for March 20, 2020. “As of now the marathon will be postponed to October post-holiday season,” reports the Jerusalem-Marathon.com site.

The decision was made in consultation with the municipality and the Israeli Ministry of Health, according to organizers. More than 40,000 runners were expected.

“I am grateful at the outpouring of contributions that were donated,” Mazor-Posner wrote to supporters. “Your support will help the lives of thousands including underserved high school teens going through an innovative training program at Ovation Communities, students of Bader Hillel Academy & Friends of the IDF (FIDF) Friends of the IDF – Illinois Chapter – the thousands of lone soldiers serving in the Israel Defense Forces. I’m planning to run the Jerusalem Winner Marathon in October … call it 50 for 51 ….”
